MONEY QUOTES TO MOTIVATE AND INSPIRE YOU
Today I want to share with you the best money quotes that have motivated and inspired me on my personal growth journey. And by personal growth I mean goals I’ve set related to saving money and making money with this blog.
Sometimes I wake up with zero motivation, which I know is perfectly normal. We all go through times where we just cannot be bothered! This can last for one day or a week or sometimes even longer. When I’m feeling this way, I like to take a small break from working on my blog and other projects, and focus on motivation and “getting back on the horse”.
The following quotes are my absolute favorite that have kept me going when I’m feeling bored, lazy or just overall ‘meh’ about life. They help me to get back on track and continue to think about the future. And I hope they’ll help you when you’re feeling a similar way. Many of these quotes are from Warren Buffett, a hugely inspirational and successful businessman and investor. I love his quotes and find them really motivating.
My hope is that they help you when you’re feeling low, unmotivated, uninspired and ready to give up. Whether you’re trying to reach your savings goals but finding it tough. Or you’re starting to look at ways to make more money to secure a better financial future for yourself.
I want you to read these and save them so that you can come back and give them a read whenever you need a gentle push in life.
So, are you ready to feel inspired and get motivated?

1. I HAVE NOT FAILED. I’VE JUST FOUND 10,000 WAYS THAT DON’T WORK

This!
I love this so much because it tells you that mistakes are normal and we all make them. Maybe even tens of thousands of them! But that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It just means you haven’t found the right way for success – yet.
If you’re feeling discouraged by your failures and mistakes, don’t be. Try viewing them in a positive light. It could just be that you haven’t yet found what works for you. And I actually think that making mistakes encourages learning, growth and getting creative to find new ways to reach your goals. After all, innovation is all about trial and error, trial and error.
When you’re working towards anything worthwhile, having a resilient attitude towards failing and making errors is what keeps us going. Remember that the most successful people in the world got to where they are having failed countless times, and that’s an encouraging thought!
2. IT’S NOT YOUR SALARY THAT MAKES YOU RICH. IT’S YOUR SPENDING HABITS

This quote is relative to a lot of the content on my blog. It resonates with me because I used to spend my money carelessly and didn’t know (or even care to be honest) about budgeting my money.
I used to think that it was my salary that was the problem and that I needed to earn more! But once I shifted my focus to my own personal behavior, I was able to see my spending habits weren’t very healthy and could start to make changes to them.
Obviously this doesn’t apply to everyone, and sometimes you’ll need to find ways to increase your income. The meaning behind this quote is about being financially aware and saving and investing your money wisely.
3. MONEY GROWS ON THE TREE OF PERSISTENCE

I find this quote motivating because it highlights the importance of staying consistent and determined in order to reach my money goals.
As we all know, financial success is not an overnight thing!
It takes hard work and being persistent through challenges and setbacks. These words are a simple but effective reminder for me that persistence is key to securing a better financial future.
4. MONEY IS A TERRIBLE MASTER BUT AN EXCELLENT SERVANT

I couldn’t agree more!
I’ve learnt over the recent years that money shouldn’t dominate your life, values and decisions. Instead it should be a tool used to serve your goals and desires in life.
For me, those things are being able to spend more time making precious memories with my husband. Saving for unforgettable trips, having money to invest, saving for retirement and securing our future.
You should be in total control of your money, and not have money control you.
5. THE MORE YOU LEARN THE MORE YOU EARN

Knowledge is power, and this couldn’t be more on point.
It’s true that the more you experience, learn and grow, this is often accompanied by more income.
Being financially successful isn’t just about accumulating more wealth though. It’s also about expanding your knowledge, honing skills and gaining valuable life experiences.
This perspective can motivate individuals to strive for higher earning potential, knowing that it’s not just about money but also about personal and professional development, making it a powerful reminder that wealth extends beyond a bank balance.
6. THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT YOUR FUTURE IS TO CREATE IT

This stopped me in my tracks when I first read this quote. It made me realize that you can’t wait for success to magically appear. No one is going to hand everything to you on a silver platter. YOU are in control of your future and how it’s going to pan out.
I think there’s an old way of thinking that to be successful you have to work hard at school, then college, then get some high paying corporate job to make it in the world. I’m not saying this is necessarily a bad thing. And I have friends who live this life, but I see it come at a cost. So if you want more freedom and not have to work for someone else, then paving your own way in life will free you from the gruelling 9 to 5.
7. SAVE MONEY AND MONEY WILL SAVE YOU

Maybe this one is an obvious message, but I like it nonetheless.
Before I had an emergency fund on hand for unexpected costs that came up, it was pretty stressful. I remember having to fork out at the dentist, wishing that I had put some savings aside for these sorts of costs.
This quote is a simple reminder to save money for a rainy day, and it will save you when those costs sneak up on you.
8. IF YOU DON’T FIND A WAY TO MAKE MONEY WHILE YOU SLEEP, YOU WILL WORK UNTIL YOU DIE

Talk about a wake up call! This quote is a powerful one from Warren Buffett because it opens your eyes to what your future could look like.
Do you want to work until you die? Or do you want to create multiple streams of income so you can retire early and live a happy and healthy life?
I know which one I’m choosing. And this quote helps me stay on track and continue to work towards my goals every day.
9. MONEY IS A TOOL. USED PROPERLY, IT MAKES SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL. USED WRONG, IT MAKES A MESS.

I like this quote because it’s frank and to the point.
It’s saying that money is a neutral resource, and the impact it has on your life depends on how it’s managed. So, it can be a force for positive change and help you reach achieve goals and aspirations. But on the other hand it can lead to chaos and stress when money isn’t handled well.
Things like having a budget to manage your finances, learning about personal finance, investing etc. can all lead to healthy money habits. This quote is a good reminder of that.
10. MONEY IS A GUARANTEE THAT WE MAY HAVE WHAT WE WANT IN THE FUTURE

Consider this quote like a friendly reminder from a good friend.
It reminds us that money can provide hope and security. I find it motivating because it helps me remember that money does play a big role in securing my future.
And it’s not about being “money hungry”, it’s about realizing that in order to turn our dreams into reality. Whether that’s a dream vacation, a comfortable retirement or owning your own home. This quote helps us to plan, save and invest in a brighter future.
11. THE LACK OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL

This quote by Mark Twain serves as a reminder that because of lack of money, people may have to give up their dreams.
Money can do many wonderful things. It can build hospitals, put a roof over our heads, provide transportation, keep us safe, allow us to travel and experience unique things in life.
But I think it’s also important to mention that money can also change someone’s life in a less healthy way. Think hunger for power and control, that’s when money starts to control YOU.
Napoleon Hill once said “Money is either a good or bad influence, according to the character of the person who possesses it“. So, on the other hand, money can be destructive depending on how you use it.
12. MONEY TALKS BUT WEALTH WHISPERS

I really like this simple yet profound message about the distinction between financial success and true wealth.
It suggests that money can often be flaunted about and spoken of loudly which can be a little shallow. In contrast, wealth, which is represented by financial stability and abundance, tends to be quiet and unassuming.
It implies that real wealth doesn’t need to be ostentatious – it speaks for itself through the security, peace of mind and freedom it provides. This quote encourages me to focus on building lasting, meaningful wealth rather than simply accumulating money to show it off. This has never interested me.
This quote is a reminder that the most valuable aspects of financial success are often quiet and subtle and show contentment, security and a life well lived. ๐
13. SAVE FOR THE LIFE YOU WANT. NOT THE ONE YOU HAVE.

This gets you thinking long-term, saving for your future self.
It helps us to look beyond our current circumstances and consider the life we want to lead in the future. Instead of only adapting our savings to our current lifestyle, this quote reminds us to save with a vision, setting aside money for our dreams, goals and the kind of life we truly want.
In essence, it inspires us to be intentional and purposeful in our savings, using money as a means to create the life we dream of rather than just maintaining the one we have.
14. THE MOST IMPORTANT INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE IS IN YOURSELF

This could not be more true!
When I was desperate to quit my job and find another way to earn a living, I learnt that I had to start investing in myself. Which led me to trying new things, starting this blog, learning a ton of useful things online and developing skills.
The best thing I could ever suggest to anyone, like Warren Buffett, is to invest in yourself. It’ll be the best thing you ever do!
Depending on what you want out of life, never stop learning and investing in yourself! There is always room for growth and the difference between successful people and others who remain stuck, is that successful people continue to learn, grow and evolve. This in turn allows them to reach their goals and accumulate wealth with a growth mindset.
15. YOUR ONLY LIMIT IS YOU

This is an encouraging thought. If we always believe that it’s external factors that keep us poor and stuck, then we’ll remain poor and stuck.
Most of the time, the biggest thing holding you back from reaching your dreams and goals is… well, you! It’s all about those self doubts, fears and the little voice in your head saying, “I can’t do this.”
But this quote reminds you that you’ve got way more potential and strength than you think. It’s saying, “Don’t stand in your own way!” Like a gentle nudge to boost your confidence, take some risks and believe in yourself.
16. PRICE IS WHAT YOU PAY. VALUE IS WHAT YOU GET.

Imagine you’re buying something, and it’s expensive. The price is what you hand over, your hard-earned cash. But the value is what you actually get out of it. It’s the knowledge, experience or happiness you gain in return. It’s a reminder that sometimes you might pay a high price for something, but if it brings you lots of happiness or teaches you something valuable, it’s worth it.
It’s all about focusing on the worth you’re getting from what you invest in, whether it’s time, money or effort.
17. IF YOU BUY THINGS YOU DON’T NEED, YOU WILL SOON SELL THINGS YOU NEED.

More wise words from Warren Buffett here!
His quote here is basically giving us a warning about spending and priorities. It’s a friendly reminder to be smart with your money. If you keep splurging on stuff you don’t really need, you’re burning through cash that could be used for important things down the road.
Meaning, you could end up in a pickle where you might have to sell off things you actually need to cover your expenses. It’s all about keeping your financial ducks in a row and not getting caught up in impulse spending.
18. DON’T WORK FOR MONEY, MAKE MONEY WORK FOR YOU

Robert Kiyosaki dropped a golden nugget with this one.
This quote is basically saying don’t be a slave to your paycheck. Instead of exhausting yourself and working tirelessly for a paycheck, it’s all about getting your money to do the hard yards. Invest it, make it grow and let it generate more money for you.
You’ll know all about trading your time for money. So, you want to use your money to create even more money. It’s a smart way to break free from the 9 to 5 grind and secure your future. Think side hustles, passive streams of income and therefore working smarter not harder.
19. FINANCIAL FREEDOM IS AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO LEARN ABOUT IT AND WORK FOR IT

This quote is telling us that anyone can achieve financial freedom. Which is great news for all!
It’s not some secret club – it’s there for the taking.
But, it’s not just going to fall into your lap!
You’ve got to put in the effort. It’s about learning the ropes of money management, investing and all things related. It is within your reach! But it’s all about taking control of your financial destiny by taking the time to learn, learn and learn some more. Then put it into practice to slowly but surely work towards financial freedom.
20. WEALTH IS NOT ABOUT HAVING A LOT OF MONEY. IT’S ABOUT HAVING A LOT OF OPTIONS.

Chris hit the nail on the head with this one!
He’s saying that it’s not just about swimming in cash, it’s about having the freedom to choose how you want to live your life.
Money gives you options โ like not stressing about bills, pursuing your dreams or taking that spontaneous vacation. It’s saying wealth means you’re the boss of your life and not the other way around.
So, it’s not just about owning a ton of cash. It’s the power to call the shots and enjoy the good things in life.
