Life is getting more expensive by the minute.
You know what it’s like, you head to the grocery store for a few items and come out scratching your head having spent way more than expected!
And don’t even get me started on gas…I’ve become an expert walker since those prices went through the roof.
The sad fact is that even if you have a solid, decent income, the cost of living is hitting some scary highs that leave people with no choice but to find new ways to increase their income.
This is why side hustles and finding the best flexible jobs from home have become necessary.
Because unfortunately, most people’s paycheck no longer cut it for the basics. Let alone having money left over for the things they want, like an annual vacation.

During my research I found that there was a LOT of rubbish to sift through online! So many get-rich-quick schemes and expensive courses that provided little to no value. As well as a lot of empty promises from online “experts”.
Give me a break!
Don’t get me wrong, there are some good, legitimate online courses and information out there.
But you shouldn’t have to spend hours sorting through to find them!
Luckily I’ve cut out a lot of the work for you, and know what’s actually worth the time and effort! Because who wants to waste hours of valuable time sorting the good from the bad?
To save you the time, I’ve put together this list of genuine and useful ways to increase your income and make extra money.
No matter your reason for finding a way to make some extra cash, I’m going to help you do this nice and efficiently!

4. Become a Transcriptionist
For those who might be wondering what a transcriptionist does, essentially they are typists who listen to audio files and put them into text format in a Word document or similar.
The main types of transcriptionists are in the legal, medical and general industries.
I have personally worked as a legal transcriptionist and really enjoyed the typing and extra cash. You can work from home and at your own pace, although there might be some requirements for fast turnarounds.
You will need to make sure that you have a fast typing speed and high accuracy to become a transcriptionist. That’s really it!
If you know legal or medical jargon then this will be an advantage when looking at these jobs.
General transcribers tend to fall in the “everything else” category, meaning any company who needs to produce written content. Just some of these can include:
- Market research and consulting firms
- Media professionals
- Entertainment companies
- Real estate professionals
- Education and academic institutions
- Research institutions
- Authors
- E-learning companies

10. Become a VA
With more and more businesses moving to the online world it makes sense that clerical staff are moving online with them. And this is exciting because there are more opportunities opening up for people wanting to become a Virtual Assistant.
Lets answer some common questions about becoming a VA.
How much can a VA earn?
A VA can expect to earn anywhere from $6.97 per hour to $59.86 per hour.
How does someone find their first VA job?
You may have heard of Upwork or Fiverr, which are both great places to land a job as a VA. However, it can be highly competitive when you’re just starting out. All you need is that one person to say yes to your first job and you’re good to go.
So how do you do that?
First, create a killer resume listing your skills and experience in your relevant field. If there are VA jobs you have your eye on but don’t yet have the skills they need, there are many online courses to get educated. Udemy have a huge range of courses in just about every area of expertise you can think of.
Second, choose your employer carefully. Create a profile on a credible online job site that is an exact match for your skillset. This way, you will find your first job to be what you were looking for.
Thirdly, make sure you are charging the correct hourly rate for your services. Research what other VAs are charging in your field and ensure you are not asking for too much or too little for your services.
11. Start an eCommerce Store
More and more retailers have moved their stores online, particularly during the global pandemic.
The pandemic has also accelerated ecommerce by roughly 5 years!
There are a few different routes you can take with ecommerce.
First up there’s Amazon FBA, which stands for Fulfillment By Amazon. So, you sell products on Amazon and they ship the product for you. Simples!
So what’s included in Amazon FBA? They provide storing, packaging and shipping, making the seller’s life a lot easier!
Amazon allows you to store your products in their fulfillment centers, and Amazon employees will pick, pack, ship and provide customer service for your products. Amazon FBA can help you scale your business and reach more customers.
Secondly, there is dropshipping. Dropshipping is where you sell a supplier’s goods without handling any inventory or shipping the product to the customer yourself. The supplier takes care of this for you.
Once you have found a reliable supplier, you advertise the products you want to sell with a profit margin, customers make a purchase from you, you automatically notify the supplier of the order and the supplier arranges for delivery of the product directly to the customer.
It is very easy to get started with dropshipping, making it a great business model for beginners. The fact that you do not need to store inventory or deal with packaging and shipping makes it very appealing.
Then finally, there is of course making your own products to sell online. Etsy would be a good path if you were to do this, depending on your product of course.
12. Become a Funnel Builder
This might sound complicated at first, but if you possess the skills or learn the skills to create funnels then you can create a thriving business solely focused on funnel building.
Now that more businesses are moving offline to online, you can help them by building different types of funnels for their business.
A sales funnel, for example, is a marketing process that a customer goes through to make a purchase at the end.
This might start off as them landing on a sales page and entering their details like an email address. They then move through the funnel process to make a purchase at the end as a result.
Some funnel building platforms you can look into are:
13. Create YouTube Tutorial Videos
Starting and growing a YouTube channel is certainly one of the best ways to earn a steady flow of income online.
While you need to be prepared for it to be slow at the start, once you start earning from your YouTube channel you’ll be laughing! Especially if your content is funny, ha ha.
Seriously though, if you think it’s too late to start a YouTube channel then you are mistaken!
Just think about how many people watch YouTube videos every day.
Perhaps the easiest way to make money with YouTube is by becoming an educator and creating tutorial videos.
People go to YouTube seeking information about all sorts of things. And with a little research, depending on your knowledge and what you’re interested in, you can start making tutorial videos and get hundreds of thousands views a day.
If you have a specific skill or interest in something, having a YouTube channel is a must. You’re missing out on the potential for a steady stream of income if you don’t.

14. Earn with Fiverr
Fiverr is one of, if not the biggest marketplace for freelancing.
This is another awesome way to earn with the best flexible jobs, that is for sure!
If you already have skills in graphic design, copywriting, web design, podcast design etc. then you can earn some cash on the side, or make it your full time gig and earn big with Fiverr.
You can start off by offering services on the cheap, say $5, and once you start getting some jobs you can slowly increase your fee.
The trick with Fiverr is doing some research to see what you can offer services for that aren’t too popular yet. Technology is constantly updating, so there are always new opportunities to get creative and offer services to people while keeping up with technology.
I recommend going through the categories at the top of the page here and looking at sub-categories that have “NEW” next to them.
These will be less competitive at first and are worth going after.
15. Make Money Using Websites

You can actually rent out more spaces than you may think! People need a solution to storing their stuff with space they don’t have. So, you can rent out your garage, driveway, basement, a spare closet, shed, parking space and many more.
This can be an excellent income booster if you have space to offer. And it can earn you good money particularly if you live in a major city.

21. Sell Templates Online
You can make at least $2,000 a month by selling Canva templates online. All you need to do is set them up once and sell them over and over again.
Templates sell really well, people always need them and it’s the sort of product that people don’t hesitate to buy because it’s already what they’re looking for.
You can set up a shop through a platform like Shopify, or sell them on your blog if you have one. Etsy is another great place to sell your templates.
22. Sell Printables on Etsy
Similar to selling templates you can also sell printable worksheets like budgeting binders, goal planners, trackers, daily task lists etc.
Again, if you have a blog and you create a printable that’s related to your blog’s topic this works really well.
Another option is setting up a shop with Etsy and selling your planners on there.
23. Sell Feet Pics Online
While I was looking at different ways to make money online I stumbled across selling feet pics as a side hustle or even full time.
At first I thought it was a bit strange, but when I looked into it I saw that people were making decent income for selling pictures of their feet online!

So if you have experience in any of these skills, it is well worth applying with Rev.com to earn some extra cash.
25. Time etc.
Time etc. is a US based company that hires freelance Virtual Assistants to complete administrative tasks. You can work during the day or night and your jobs can range from typical admin work like booking travel and appointments to posting on social media.
This is an opportunity to work with some of the most exciting entrepreneurs and make a career out of it. Time etc. do want long term VA’s seeking a career in this sort of work.
You must be based in the US for these jobs and have 5 to 8 years relevant experience. The initial pay is $13 per hour but you can apply for an increase later.
In Summary
It’s not always easy deciding on what best flexible jobs you want to do. So it might be a good idea to try a few of the ideas above and see what best suits you and your schedule.
Ideas like completing surveys and joining focus groups will get you cash faster, but you won’t earn as much as you would with the longer term ones like starting a blog or selling printables online.
Whatever you decide to do to earn extra cash, remember that consistency is key. If you remain consistent in whatever you do, the better your results will be and the more money you will make.
I hope you enjoyed this post and hope it helps relieve you of financial stress.
Don’t give up on your money goals, you’ll get there!
